The greatest diva of all, Whitney Houston, would've turned 50 yrs old today.  Her untimely death on February 11, 2012 was a shocking loss to the music industry.

Before Mariah Carey, there was Whitney.  Songs by Whitney was all you heard on the radio in the 1980's, she was the reigning R&B queen. She was my favorite R&B diva of the time & probably for all time.

The media had played up a fake feud between the reigning queen Whitney, & the music industry's new song bird, Mariah, in the early 1990's.  A feud which was later put to an end when the two divas collaborated on "When you believe" from the soundtrack to the film "The Prince of Egypt".

Whitney left behind a ton of beautiful ballads & a few up tempo songs as well. Some of her greatest hits include:

Greatest love of All, I Wanna Dance with Somebody, I Will Always Love You, Hold Me, Saving All My Love, Run to You, You Give Good Love, How Will I Know, I Have Nothing, One Moment in Time, All the Man That I Need, My Love is Your Love, When You Believe, All at Once, It's not Right But its Okay, I'm Your baby Tonight & many others.

Whitney won 31 Billboard Music Awards, 22 American Music Awards, 7 Grammy's & 2 Emmys, to name a few of her accomplishments.

The last few years of her life were overshadowed with addiction & her personal troubles with her ex-husband Bobby Brown. She was supposed to make her triumphant return back to music many many times with the help of her friend & mentor, Clive Davis. Her last album "I Look to You" had released her "A Million Dollar Bill".

Whitney's only child Bobby Christina just announced her engagement to long time boyfriend Nick Gordan. Its sad Whitney won't be present for their wedding but she will probably be watching from up above.

Whitney is gone but her memory lives on through her music. We will always love you Whitney!! Happy Birthday!
