Sixteen years ago today, the world said a heartfelt goodbye to the reigning R&B queen, Aaliyah. Aaliyah, born Aaliyah Haughton in Brooklyn on January 16, 1979, the famed R&B singer was killed with eight others in a plane crash in the Bahamas on August 25, 2001. Aaliyah's body of work speaks for itself, being that she has been gone for over 16 years and we are still listening to her music and appreciating her.
