Pearl Street Pub in Downtown Albany Becoming a Crepe Place to Eat

Get ready downtown Albany, things are going to be "crepe". A new restaurant is moving into the old Pearl Street Pub. It's a well-known place in Vermont and now they are heading into New York bringing their unique delicacies.

Crepes which are thin pancakes that are filled with everything from chicken to fruit and other delicious items stuffed inside will have a home on Pearl Street. The Skinny Pancake originally started in Burlington, Vermont and has eight locations across the state. But now, for the first time, they will expand into New York.

According to Capital Region Living, the owner of The Skinny Pancake, Michael Cyr said this about the move:

For years now we’ve been looking at the Capital Region—Troy and Albany mostly. Albany has a lot going for it, a growing community, a population center proximate to our home base in Vermont, a great foodshed in the Hudson Valley. The particular space in Downtown Albany is also part of a larger downtown revitalization that was exciting to become a part of.

Don't be fooled, though. The Skinny Pancake serves crepes for lunch, dinner, dessert food, and of course breakfast. They are known for their Jonny Crepe which is Vermont Maple pulled pork, caramelized onions with cheddar all in a cornmeal crepe. There is also the Hot Apple Crumble dessert crepe that has a local apple compote and toasted streusel wrapped up in a crepe. But they don't just do crepes. They also serve burgers, sandwiches, salads, and poutine.

The hope is that The Skinny Pancake opens in mid-November. It will all depend on getting the supplies they need in time to open.
