Order a Lyft XL in New York and Get Surprised with Big Wiener
New Yorkers that call for a Lyft XL on their smartphone might get a big surprise today and tomorrow.
The Oscar Mayer Wienermobile will be cruising the streets of New York City offering Lyft riders a chance to ride in style in the world's most iconic vehicle. This odd combination of a promotional hot dog vehicle and a ride-share app is going on in Chicago, Los Angeles, Atlanta, and New York City.
If you order a Lyft XL and the Wienermobile shows up to pick you up you'll not only have the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to ride in the Oscar Mayer Wienermobile...but you'll also be the envy of your friends and family. Of course, you can't ride in the Wienermobile without some cool swag, so you'll also be given masks and Weenie Whistles.
There are currently six Wienermobiles hotdogging around the country. They are all 27-foot-long hot-dog-shaped vehicles riding on truck chassis, and they've been modified with huge purple, backlit Lyft signage on their roofs.
By the way, did you know there is an entire fleet of Wienermobiles? Not just the classic one we all think of.
There is now a Wienerdrone, designed to reach hungry hot dog eaters in remote locations. The WienerDrone can fly at a maximum altitude of 1,200 feet for up to 15 minutes at a time. The downside? It only carries one hot dog. And you better catch it when it deploys from the hot dog chute.
There's the WienerRover, a small, remote-controlled off-road vehicle capable of delivering six hot dogs, a WienerCycle with a built-in hot dog warmer sidecar, and a WienerMini based on the Mini Cooper.
