Apple picking, cider donuts and the various haunted attractions are in full swing here in New York State and Fall has set in. There is even that chill in the air that we didn't have just a couple of weeks ago. Time for the flannel and the foliage.

Leaf peeping is as much a part of the season as carving pumpkins and placing mums on your front porch. The difference with the changing of the leaves is that we have to wait for it to happen. As of today the Adirondacks are nearing peak conditions so maybe a daytrip to Lake George or Lake Placid would be in order this weekend or next. As I look out of my Capital Region window I see partial coverage but when exactly will we see peak color throughout New York State?

How brilliant will the leaves be this year? It's impossible to predict with 100% accuracy but some experts claim that it will be fantastic. According to Frommer's, New England is predicted to be spectacular, so why not New York?
