According to police records, an underaged girl reported that she entered into a sexual relationship with a student-teacher at the Niskayuna High School in 2019.

Police arrested Albany resident, 23-year old Nikos Assimakopolous for allegedly engaging in a sexual relationship with an underage girl.  Police say that in 2019 Mr. Assimakopoulos engaged in a lengthy sexual relationship with the girl.  After a long investigation, police were able to arrest him and charge him for inappropriate behavior.

Accroding to WNYT, Mr. Assimakopoulos was taken into custody and charged with third-degree Criminal Sexual Act which is a felony.  He was also charged with one count of Rape which is also a felony.  In addition, he was charged with Endangering the Welfare of a Child Child which is a misdemeanor.

Mr.  Assimakopoulos was transported to the Schenectady County Jail and given a $7,500 cash bail.  He is scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday.

Law-enforcement officials are still investigating this incident and they are asking the public for help.  They are asking anyone with information about this incident, or any other incidents that involves Mr. Assimakopoulos, to call Detective Paul Day at 518-683-4582.

The teacher in this incident is only 23-years old and he was a student-teacher at the time.  It’s unfortunate that he is starting out his teaching career by breaking the number one rule, becoming involved with a student.  Hopefully the victim in this incident received the help that she may need.
