New York Mayor’s Husband Arrested On Felony Charges
It’s not every day that a mayor’s spouse is taken into custody, but that’s exactly what happened to Rochester’s Mayor Lovely Warren.
Over the past year or so Rochester has been in the limelight for some disturbing incidents that happened in the city. On Wednesday some bad news was delivered to the mayor of Rochester, her husband Timothy Granison, was taken into custody by New York state troopers with felony charges.
According to NY Post, Law-enforcement officers with the New York State Police executed a search warrant on Mayor Warren’s home on Wednesday and arrested her husband on felony charges. According to charging documents, Timothy Granison was stopped by New York State police and during a search of his vehicle, they confiscated cocaine.
On Wednesday evening officers executed a search warrant of the mayor’s home in Woodman Park. During the search of the home, officers were able to recover three firearms, $100,000 in cash, and 2 kg of powder and crack cocaine.
This is not the first time that Mr. Granison has been in trouble with the law. He was involved in a 1997 armed jewel heist and served five years of probation.
Mr. Granison pleaded not guilty to one count of Criminal Possession of a Firearm and two counts of third-degree Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance. He appeared remotely from the Monroe County Jail.
Mayor Warren is running for her third term as a Democratic mayor. She believes that the timing of her husband’s arrest could be politically motivated. It’s probably very hard to try to govern a city when you are married to someone with a criminal past.
