Albany is without a doubt a hotspot for pro wrestling. Whether at the WWE or independent level, fans in the area can't seem to get enough.

2022 has been an incredible year so far for pro wrestling fans in the Capital Region. WWE returned to the area for the first time since the pandemic back in April with a live edition of Smackdown at the MVP Arena. It was also announced that WWE would be bringing Monday Night Raw back to the arena on November 21st after a 3 year absence.

In addition, other leagues announced plans for an appearance in the Albany area. Back in March, Big Time Wrestling held an event featuring the Hardy Boyz at the Washington Avenue Armory. And AEW announced it will be making its debut in Albany at the MVP Arena with a live broadcast of their show Dynamite, as well as a taping of Rampage.

On top of all that, the International Pro Wrestling Hall of Fame is holding its induction weekend at the Desmond Hotel in Albany the weekend of August 26-28. They currently have a hall of fame display located at the MVP Arena.

It was just announced Thursday night that IMPACT Wrestling will hold its biggest pay-per-view event of the year right here in the Capital City.

The PPV, called Bound for Glory, will happen live on Friday October 7th from Albany, though the venue has not yet been publicly confirmed.

According to News 10, IMPACT Wrestling has not made an appearance in Albany since 2021.
