Jay Z to Headline Global Citizen Festival in India
Jay Z will be performing in India for the first time in his career. The "Where I'm From" rapper will join Coldplay and Demi Lovato as headliners of the upcoming Global Citizen Festival. The event is scheduled to take place on Nov. 19 in Mumbai and will be free to attend for anyone who performs a variety of social tasks.
"Our festival combines music with social causes that have an impact, and Miracle Foundation has had a huge impact on vulnerable children," Global Citizen India's spokesperson Arnav Sahni said in a statement. "Fueled by Ketto's remarkable crowdfunding platform, we hope to raise money and awareness so the Miracle Foundation can continue to do their inspirational work."
Jay Z has been using his status to make an impact at home too, most notably with his support for Hillary Clinton's presidential candidacy. The Grammy Award winner also took the opportunity criticize Donald Trump before introducing Clinton at last Friday's (Nov. 4) Get Out the Vote concert.
"The soul is colorless," Jay Z said. "I want to grow up in a world where our daughter has no limitations. [Where] she feels like she can be whatever she wants to be in the world. That other guy, I don’t have any ill will toward him. But his conversation is divisive, and that’s not an evolved soul to me. So he cannot be my president. He cannot be our president. Once you divide us, you weaken us. We are stronger together.”
Jay Z's endorsement of Clinton clearly got under the skin of Trump. The Republican candidate took some shots at Hov and Clinton during a speech in Hershey, Pa.
