It's taken a bit longer than expected for cannabis retailers in New York State to begin firing up sales, but a few have sporadically popped up within the last few months.

Last fall, Gov. Kathy Hochul forecasted that approximately 20 new shops opening every month or so to start this year. Instead, one store was open by the start of the year, with 11 more opened since.

In April, Upstate Canna Co. on Union Street in Schenectady, became the first (and so far, only) recreational weed store in the Capital Region.

On Friday, FlynnStoned Cannabis Company opened its doors in Syracuse, the first one of its kind in that area, and they celebrated on Friday with a "Grand Opening" party to welcome cannabis enthusiasts from all over New York State.

New York's largest dispensary

The Office of Cannabis Management says that the three-story, 13,000-square-foot shop in Syracuse is New York's Cannabis King in terms of size!

FlynnStoned Cannabis Company, located at 219 Walton Street, Syracuse, is owned by Mike Flynn, who according to New York Upstate, also owns a roofing company.

According to the source, Flynn bought the three-story building in downtown Syracuse "for $2 million a couple of months after legalization took effect in 2021".
Since purchasing the space, Flynn spent over $1 million dollars renovating it while patiently waiting to open its doors.

Store hours are Sunday 10 am -8 pm, Monday - Thursday 10 am - 9 pm, and Friday and Saturday 10 am -10 pm
