Jordan Poyer’s Wife Says Devastating Goodbye To Buffalo

Even though it happens every year, it’s natural to get a little sad when we see our favorite players part with the Buffalo Bills. But when those players and their families express their genuine sadness at leaving Western New York, it’s somehow even more of a gut-punch. 

Bills Mafia knew we’d be seeing some moves by the front office this offseason, thanks to the Bills widely-publicized $41.3 million excess over their allotted salary cap - but no one was expecting a day like Wednesday.

March 6th was an absolute bloodbath at One Bills Drive. Receiver Nyheim Hines, special teams player Siran Neal, wide receiver Deonte Harty, offensive lineman Mitch Morse, cornerback Tre'Davious White, and safety Jordan Poyer were all given their walking papers and cut from the squad.

Poyer’s release was a shock to most Bills fans. After being signed to the team in March of 2017, he started off strong and became one of the faces of Buffalo’s “rebuilding” years. Although he remained pretty quiet last season, many thought he would stick around at least one more year to ride out his two-year contract extension and step up if Micah Hyde chooses to retire.

Jordan Poyer was also beloved by Bills Mafia. He was honest about his struggles with alcoholism, and started the Jordan Poyer Foundation to devote his time to programs and resources for others struggling with substance abuse. 

He and his wife, Rachel Bush, have been supportive of the Buffalo community and their love for the Western New York area since they arrived. Even after there were rumblings that Poyer might retire this offseason, Bush assured Bills fans they had no plans of going anywhere.

That tweet from the end of January is even more sad to read now, considering the turn of events for the Poyers.

Jordan Poyer’s Wife Says Goodbye To Buffalo

Hours after the news broke about Jordan Poyer’s release, Bush released a sad statement on X (formerly Twitter):

“So much to say about our time spent in Buffalo. Can’t find the words just yet. Thank you all. So many memories made  over the years. Grateful for it all (you all!)”

Best of luck to Jordan, Rachel, and their adorable daughter Aliyah. We’ll miss you here in Western New York, and you’ll always be members of Bills Mafia to us.
