It seems as if it is taking spring forever to get here, but before we know it, it will be the hot days of summer. The Governor's Office announced that it is offering millions of dollars in assistance for those in need of air conditioning. According to News 10 ABC, there is six million dollars available to help those that will be suffering with health issues due to extreme heat by helping them purchase an air conditioner.

The New York state Governor's Office along with the Home Energy Assistance Program said that applications are now available for those in need of an air conditioner this summer. You can apply in person at your county's social services department.

You must also meet the eligible Home Energy Assistance Program criteria and income guidelines. It all depends on the size of the household and a documented medical condition that is elevated due to extreme heat.

This is done on a first come first served basis. Once the funds run out, the program is done. Applications will be accepted through August 30th.
