Hip Hop Album Sales This Week

Alicia Keys proved she is indeed a “girl on fire” with her latest album sitting high atop the charts. Her fifth studio album sold over 150,000 copies in its first week. BadaBOOM! Nicki Minaj, Dr. Dre and Swizz Beatz (her hubby) all make appearances on the album.

In more disappointing album-sales-news, the long awaited collab-album, “Wu Block,” featuring Ghostface Killah and Sheek Louch sold only 9,000 copies in its first week. Several active Wu and D Block members also made contributions to the disc

Here’s the run-down of hip hop and r&b joints that charted (week ending 12/2):

6. Rihanna – Unapologetic – 72,000 (310,000 total)

17. Kendrick Lamar – good kid m.A.A.d. city – 29,000 (457,000 total)

30. Cee Lo – Cee Lo’s Magic Moment – 21,000 (47,000)

53. Nicki Minaj – Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded The Re-Up – 12,000 (739,000 total)
