If you plan on driving around the Albany area (I-90) between noon and 3pm today you might want to brainstorm alternate routes ahead of time. Obama and his crew are takin’ ova!!!

The Times Union was in contact with the State Thruway Authority who suggested the following routes:

”Northbound motorists from points south of Albany should use Exit 21A (I-90 east) to travel the Berkshire Spur to Exit B1 (I-90 west). Travelers should then take I-90 to I-787 north, continuing to Exit 9W to Route 7 and access to the Adirondack Northway (I-87).

Eastbound motorists should use Exit 23 (Albany) for I-787 north and access to I-90 east at Exit 5. Motorists seeking the Adirondack Northway (I-87) should continue on I-787 to Exit 9W for Route 7 west. A work zone in Downtown Albany will potentially result in extended back-ups during this period.

Southbound travelers on the Adirondack Northway (I-87) seeking access to I-90 west and I-87 south will be able to enter the Thruway at the Exit 24 toll plaza”

Washington Ave. Extension will also be closed during this time from exit 2 to the on-ramp at Crossgates Mall, as well as Fuller Rd. between Great Dane and Railroad avenues.
