The hype around the Tupac Shakur biopic All Eyez On Me is starting to build. The film is directed by Benny Boom and Tupac’s mother, Afeni Shakur, will serve as the executive producer. The cast of the movie, which will be released through Morgan Creek Productions, is currently shooting in Atlanta and the list of actors involved is growing.

So far Dominic L. Santana will play Suge Knight, Demetrius Shipp Jr. as Tupac, Danai Gurira serves as Afeni Shakur, Kat Graham is taking on the role of Jada Pinkett-Smith and James Hector is Mutulu Shakur, 'Pac's stepfather. Jamal Woolard will reprise his role as the Notorious B.I.G. in the biopic. Woolard play Biggie in the 2009 biopic Notorious.

All Eyez On Me is produced by James G. Robinson and David Robinson of Morgan Creek Productions along with LT Hutton. The film will be distributed by Open Road.

The film will cover Tupac Shakur’s entire life, from his rise to rap stardom to his death in 1996. Other notable moments will be touched upon such as his stint at Death Row Records, the East Coast/West Coast rap war and everything in-between.

Production of the film started In December after months of delays, which included multiple director changes and an in-house lawsuit. Filmmaker John Singleton left the project last year, saying on Instagram that, “the people involved aren’t really respectful of the legacy of Tupac.”

Following the success of 2015’s Straight Outta Compton, added focus has been given to hip-hop’s leading stories, with Tupac’s the first among them. There is no release date as of yet but one can hope this movie will hit theaters sooner rather than later.
