A Saturday afternoon drive led to an elderly woman landing herself behind bars for allegedly driving while under the influence of alcohol.

On Saturday afternoon May 8, 2021, around 2:45 p.m., a 68-year-old Glen Falls woman was seen driving erratically on State Route 9 near Sweet Road.

An anonymous caller dialed 911 to report that they had witnessed a vehicle swerving all over the roadway nearly causing an accident. The caller reported that they had observed a gray-colored Honda HRV swerving all over the roadway nearly causing an accident.

When police officers arrived at the scene, they also witnessed the gray SUV driving in an unsafe manner. The driver, 68-year old Maureen Ives of Glen Falls, was stopped by the responding officers.

Investigating officers believed that Ms. Ives was intoxicated, therefore they conducted a chemical breath test. The breathalyzer test revealed that Ms. Ives had a Blood Alcohol Level of .21%.

Because of her high blood alcohol level, and the fact that officers had witnessed the woman driving in an unsafe manner, she was arrested and charged with Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated. In addition to the DWI charge, officers issued tickets to her for operating with an open container and for failing to remain in her lane.
