Drake had himself a night on Sunday (Nov. 20), taking home four American Music Awards after receiving a record breaking 13 nominations, and using the occasion to debut a new Apple Music commercial. He as well used the AMA stage to send some veiled shots at perhaps Kanye West, who had mention Drake and his DJ Khaled song "For Free" in a rant this past weekend.

"For our genre, I just like to keep things exciting and keep making music. Shout out to everybody that’s trying to do the same thing," he said while accepting the award for Favorite Artist Rap/Hip-Hop. "More Life is coming soon and more tune for your head top, so watch how you speak on my name, ya’know?" He doubled down on those remarks in an Instagram comment, DJ Khaled's post congratulating Drake on his three solo wins. "Some bwoy need fi make some hit song and stop cry," Drake wrote in response.

While in Sacramento for his Saint Pablo tour, Kanye West noted that Drake gets more radio play than Frank Ocean, something he takes issue with. "I know it’s a lot of real niggas working at radio, real people, real programming directors with wives and kids that love music, that can’t play what they want to play because they’ve been paid to play that bullshit over and over and over. And when I say that bullshit, what I’m saying is we love Drake, Drake is great. He’s a great artist. But Frank Ocean is great, too," he said, later referencing "For Free," which went platinum in September. "Khaled and Drake and radio and Doc and [Real] 92.3 and everybody. Is it just me or did you hear that song so many times 'you say you wanna play for free.' Aye, aye. You know what it is, though? Because aye, I love Drake. I love Khaled. But they set that song up, bro."

Not too long ago, Drake and Kanye were supposed to have a joint album in the works, a billboard spotted in Los Angeles with both the G.O.O.D. Music and OVO Sound logos. This would either signal a split between the two collaborators or some press fodder aimed to hype up the release. Either way, Drake's cryptic comments can be seen and heard below.
