In the recent wake of South Carolina just denouncing the Confederate Flag 150 years after the Civil War, has Confederate Flag supporters coming from out in masses. The Confederate Flag has had a popular week probably, about the most popular week in decades. This young man defends his right to have the Confederate Flag hang from his college dorm room.

This has always confused me when I first learned about the Civil War. A simple history lesson will teach you that the civil war was embedded in racism. I had really good AP history teacher in the 12th grade, we had to study the ins and outs of history and write a 10 page paper every week. After that I never understood why people who are alive today and live in America were so vested in the Confederate Culture, this group of people were traitors. They're history should be banished and seemed as shameful.

“…As a national emblem, it is significant of our higher cause, THE CAUSE OF A SUPERIOR RACE, and a higher civilization contending against ignorance, infidelity, and barbarism. Another merit in the new flag is, that it bears no resemblance to the now infamous banner of the Yankee vandals."—William T. Thompson (May 4, 1863), Daily Morning News

To say the civil war was about anything other than racism and capitalism, your trying to re write historical facts. Obviously his college is doing a terrible job at American History. I see a Confederate flag every now and again in New York, which really confuses me but thats a different story for another day. I think anyone who wants to display a Confederate Flag should be allowed to, it helps you identify who the racist are.
