Members of the Cohoes Police Department were able to arrest two individuals in two different cases with the help of the community. Both subjects were arrested on drug charges and they both were turned in by Neighborhood Watch.

CBS News 6 Reports, on Friday, March 26, Cohoes Police Department worked along with the Rensselaer County Sheriff’s Office and the New York State Police to serve a search warrant on 38-year old Royce N. Dewer. Officers showed up at Mr. Dewer’s residence early in the morning to execute the warrant. During their search, they were able to recover and confiscate a loaded gun and drugs.

Mr. Dewer was arrested and taken into custody. He was charged with third-degree Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance (Felony); second-degree Criminal Possession of a Weapon (Felony); fifth-degree Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance (Felony); fifth-degree Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance (Felony); second-degree Criminal Contempt (Misdemeanor); seventh-degree Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance (Misdemeanor); and second-degree Criminal Use of Drug Paraphernalia (Misdemeanor). Mr. Dewer was arraigned in Cohoes City Court. He was taken to the Albany County Correctional Facility and was released on bail.

Law enforcement officials were not finished yet. They continued to work and on Monday, April 19th they arrested 50-year old Theresa Wood of Cohoes. She was arrested on a warrant that was issued by the Albany County Court. She was charged with five counts of third-degree Criminal Sale of Controlled Substances which is a felony. She was released on her own recognizance.

Cohoes Police Chief Todd Walden appreciates the community’s assistance. He said, “With the help of the community and assistance of other law enforcement agencies, we will continue our efforts to rid Cohoes of drug activity and associated violent crimes.
