Cock-a-Doodle New: Malta’s Ugly Rooster is Now Open

The Ugly Rooster; Mechanicville's cozy, comfortable, cafe has finally opened their second location.  I guess they needed to expand after feeling a bit...cooped up with just one spot.

Nestled in the heart of Mechanicville, The Ugly Rooster Cafe is beloved by locals and out-of-town travelers who know where to get good eats in Saratoga County.

They've enjoyed so much success over the last dozen years, that one Rooster simply wasn't enough.  Approximately a month ago, they "teased" information regarding their expansion with a Facebook message stating "What's better than one Rooster? We vote for two. Details coming soon!"

Soon after the Facebook tease, people began sharing "coming soon" photos of the signage where the former Malta Diner used to be announcing the Rooster's arrival.

Previously, the Malta Diner, had been in  business for over 25 years when they announced back in January that due to the COVID-19 pandemic they were closing up shop.

On Monday morning at 7AM, the anxious and excited staff had the official grand opening for their second location at 2476 Route 9 in Malta.  Judging by the hype and overall positive reaction on social media, it appears that people flocked to the new spot to soak in their down-home cozy atmosphere and delicious comfort foods at a bargain price.

The Malta menu itself seems pretty comparable to the Mechanicville one, and prices appear to be exactly the same from location to location.  Only the hours appear to be slightly different; Malta hours are Monday thru Sunday, 7AM-2PM. Mechanicville hours are Monday thru Friday 6AM-2PM, Saturday and Sunday 7AM-2PM.
