The 64th annual Tulip Fest is happening in Albany’s Washington Park on May 12th and 13th. Tulip Fest is also known as “Good Luck Getting A Parking Spot Without Receiving A Ticket Make Sure You Put Your Beer In A Brown Paper Bag Day”. Ok, maybe I made that second part up. I’m pumped!

For the second year in a row, Albany’s strict rules ban all attendees from bringing alcohol into the park. This is the second consecutive year of the rule – mostly because of the hoodlums playing bagpipes on top of cars, throwing eggs and destroying private property during the kegs’n’eggs festivities on St. Patrick’s Day, 2011.

Beer will still be available from vendors on location, along with some of your favorite festivity food and drink – funnel cakes, gyros, huge lemonades in plastic containers, cotton candy etc. This years Tulip Queen will be announced on Saturday. Musical acts were also announced for the two day event

Saturday acts include Fountains of Wayne, Walk The Moon, Conehead Buddha, Today The Moon Tomorrow The Sun, The LateShift and The City Never Sleeps and Barkeater.

Sunday’s acts include Higher Ground: A Tribute to Stevie Wonder, Mr. Dynamite: The Explosive James Brown Show, John Brodeur, The Jenson Rhodes Band and more.

Enjoy Tulip Fest Weekend! Just remember, pick something up for your mama while you’re there! Mother’s Day is on May 13th, by the way. Don’t say no one reminded you.
