I'm fairly new to the Capital Region, and I've been a vegetarian for three years, so finding vegetarian-friendly places to eat has been a quest of mine! Here's a list of places you can count on in the Capital Region for tasty meat-free options.

Bombers Burrito Bar - Bombers has become one of my favorite places to go in the capital region! I love it because anything meat-based you can get there, you can easily get an equivalent vegetarian option. Even wings! Bombers has an awesome selection of faux-meats to choose from -- tofu, veggie 'nuggets', beans, or just plain veggies. I've had all of them, in burritos and bowls, and you just can't go wrong.

Zen Asian Fusion Lounge - Zen is another awesome place in the Capital Region that's friendly for non-meat eaters. Whether you're in the mood for sushi or stir fry, Zen is the place to go. They have an amazing tofu hibachi dish (I get it every time). I also love their peanut avocado roll. You'll definitely find something to love here.

Café Madison - Breakfast food! Café Madison specializes in breakfast and lunch, so you'll need to get there before 2pm! They have an amazing vegan brunch menu -- from breakfast sandwiches, to french toast, and everything in between. And, if you're a coffee lover (and aspiring vegan) like me, they also offer almond milk! This vegetarian breakfast spot is like no other.

Little Anthony's - Little Anthony's is an amazing destination for vegetarians and vegans. They make it so easy to substitute meat (and cheese), and they do both so well! From pizza, to vegetarian "chicken" parmesan subs, Little Anthony's has you covered.

Honest Weight Food Co-op - The Co-op is such a great local, vegetarian/vegan friendly place to buy groceries & eat, especially if you have a sweet tooth! Honest Weight features different vegan goodies everyday -- vegan chocolate chip muffins, cupcakes, cookies, and more! I've tried a bunch of them, and they're all fantastic. They also have a food bar & a pre-made food area which always features great vegetarian options on the go.

Moon & River Cafe - The Moon & River is definitely different --  but that's what makes it so great! The layout of the place will make you feel just at home; there's a kitchen area, and a living room space which sometimes features open mics. The Moon & River has countless vegan and vegetarian options, and everything I've had from there has been so tasty! They've got you covered for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

Blaze Pizza - Blaze Pizza is fairly new in town as well, and it's pretty awesome. Blaze has a "build your own" pizza option which is great for vegetarians (and aspiring vegans). Blaze even has a vegan cheese option! They have a gluten-free crust option, as well, with tons of veggie toppings to choose from. Plus, it's so inexpensive!

Whole Foods - Whole Foods is another awesome place to shop in the Capital Region for all of us vegetarians. One of my favorite things about Whole Foods, though, is its food bar section. The food bar always houses many, many vegetarian/vegan food options made to-go! There's vegan pizza, soy nuggets, steamed veggies, a salad bar, and even more options to choose from every day. My favorite things in the world are their soy nuggets!

Something to look forward to -- a vegan deli is coming to Lark Street this Spring! Happy eating!
