I hate clothes shopping. Like many people, trying on clothes and seeing how the sizes don't fit me is a terrible feeling, until a recent trip which completely changed my perspective.
I went shopping yesterday-yes, Sunday. Everyone was happy, no lines, and no parking lot problems. Unlike the horror stories we have been hearing about Black Friday 2013!
The Thanksgiving Day holiday is traditionally meant to be spent with family and friends, cheating on our diets being gluttons, and giving thanks for all we have. This year retailers have combined the Black Friday madness with a holiday, starting the shopping frenzy on turkey night. Is this morally right? Well, retail America seems to think so!
Many of us love to shop, but when is it shopping for necessity and when is it a compulsive, addictive behavior? Retail therapy may be a mood booster but it sure clutters up the closet!
Crossgates Mall is about to give local shoppers a taste of Europe with the announcement of 6 new stores. British, French, Spanish and Portuguese styles will all be represented in the new retailers.
The Latham Circle Mall is due for a huge over-haul (duh!). I haven’t set foot in the dump for years. I assume all that’s left are stores selling samurai swords and Native American hand-crafted items. The plan, according to a story in the Times Union, is to re-launch as an “open-air shopping center” – much like Clifton Park Center.
