Native residents of the great city of Atlanta tend to have more humility than most when it comes to their home town. One rapper from Hotlanta, Young Dro, called it one of the most hated cities in the US, while also claiming his birth place is the “Mecca of music.”

Dro explained to AllHipHop.com that hate turns into love once you absorb the fact that so many labels and artists call Atlanta their home. “I like the fact that we have pioneered the industry and music game and made our print in the music industry. This is the recording capital.”

In a landscape full of cliques like Kanye’s G.O.O.D. Music, YMCMB and Rick Ross’s MMG, Dro drove the point home that T.I.’s Hustle Gang is still the premiere southern-based team in Hip Hop. “We’re still here. We get interviews. People want to know about it. We still on ‘106 & Park.’ We been there like twice this year. You know what I’m saying? We got like six videos on MTV Jams.”

It’s been 7 years since Dro’s last studio album, Best Thang Smokin’, which featured his smash Shoulder Lean with T.I. After a stint of overseas tours, he’s back on the grind. His new project, High Times, was released earlier this month. It features the street banger, FDB, which you can hear below.
