The New York Knicks have been a very bad franchise for about a decade now.  Not to mention, they have not had a good point guard in years.  Jalen Brunson may change that in the coming days.  The current Mavericks guard will become a free agent this week and the Knicks have been listed as heavy favorites to sign him.  While I think he will give them a necessary boost overall, it won't put them over the hump in the Eastern Conference.  Here is my quick take on this form the Times Union:

The New York Knicks might land point guard Jalen Brunson of the Dallas Mavericks with a four year for more than $100 million contract, but that’s still not nearly enough to push them over the top. Even with Brunson, the Knicks are nowhere near ready to overtake Boston, Brooklyn, Miami, and Philadelphia for the top team in the Eastern Conference. Brunson is a very good player, but he’s not a superstar. The Knicks can’t attract a superstar player, because they are not close to making a run at winning a National Title. And to be honest, I'm not sure that’s going to be anytime soon.

MJ and I discussed the possibility of Brunson joining the Knicks earlier this morning right here on Big Board Sports.  Below is our full conversation on this.

I really hope the Knicks can land Brunson and improve and become a steady contender in the East.  Brunson's father is even an assistant coach for the Knicks so that could be the main reason to sign Brunson to a nice deal sooner rather than later.
