Who Won in High School Hoops on ‘Friday in the 518’?
Fridays are always busy on high school fields and courts, December 10th one was no exceptions. There were 38 basketball games on the Section II schedule for the boys and 32 match ups for the girls. Let's start with boys basketball today. Niskayuna was hosting Shenendahowa and the battle lived up the billing with the Silver Warriors getting by the Plainsmen 57-51. In a defensive battle Bethlehem snuck by Guilderland 38-36, while Albany defeated Burnt Hills 78-69. Visiting Troy raced by South Colonie 71-57, as Ballston Spa dropped 72 on Averill Park for a 28 point victory. CBA downed Columbia 49-33 and Lake George doubled North Warren with 81 for the victory. We're not done yet boys basketball.
Chatham got by Watervliet 50-48 and Amsterdam defeated Queensbury 72-57. Schenectady and Saratoga battled to the last second with visiting Schenectady prevailing 68-67. Cohoes dropped 94 on Catholic Central for at 23 point win, while Icabod Crane battled Cobleskill for a 59-55 victory. Central Valley won 75-56 over Canajoharie and Lansingburg beat Mohonasen 54-46. LaSalle downed Schalmont 60-50 and Greenwich beat Cambridge by a lot. Hoosick Falls defeated Waterford 58-46, while Stillwater got by Hoosick Valley 64-59. OESJ, Fort Plain, Notre Dame Bishop Gibbons, Fonda, Galway, Lake George, Hartford, Saugerties, Glens Falls, Broadalbin-Perth and Hudson Falls were all victorious on Friday.
Now to girls basketball on the high school floors. Bethlehem put 71 up against Guilderland for a big victory, while Shen doubled Niskayuna 72-36. Catholic Central defeated Cohoes 52-40, while Albany Academy dropped 75 on Cobleskill. South Colonie clamped down on Troy for the win 63-24, as Averill Park put 70 up against Ballston Spa for a large margin triumph. Salem got by Argyle 61-47, while Maple Hill got past Rensselaer 50-43. Whitehall battled Hadley-Luzerne 33-31 for the win, while Cambridge beat Greenwich 56-40. Stillwater beat Hoosic Valley 32-27, while Hoosick Falls downed Waterford 64-33. Catskill, Corinth, Greenwich, Mayfield, Berne-Knox, Duanesburg and Canajoharie were all victorious on Friday.
