For my entire life I have listened to and been a part of so many crosstown baseball discussions. Who's the better baseball team, the Yankees or the Mets? Who has the biggest stars? Who has the best fans? Now, here is one that should be talked about more! How about who has the tastiest stadium food?

Wednesday in The Athletic, Kavitha A. Davidson did a little research of her own, "As a native New Yorker and lifelong Yankee fan, I’ve heard these complaints often, and I’ve understood the reasons for them: The food at the Stadium is boring and generic, relying on national chains rather than local eats — which, for a food town as diverse and plentiful as New York, is a whiff. To hear fans talk about it, Yankee Stadium’s concessions more resemble a mall food court (in a city largely without malls) than a reflection and celebration of the best New York has to offer."

So Kavitha, who will be on The Drive with Charlie & Dan on Tuesday, took it upon herself to be the judge. Off to Citi Field went The Athletic reporter and this is what she found, "The Mets boast food from local eateries such as Blue Smoke and Mister Softee and, of course, a hot pastrami on rye stand. (The Yankees’ answer to Blue Smoke is Mighty Quinn’s, a local mini-chain.)" Davidson observed, "Beyond New York, many other ballparks seem to have more locally reflective foods: the Brewers have brats; the Dodgers have elote and the Dodger dog; the Cubs have the Chicago dog; the Orioles have Old Bay. It’s fair to ask: What is Yankee Stadium’s signature ballpark food?"

I got the feeling that Kavitha A. Davidson was warm to the response but didn't love it. "To hear the Yankees tell it, the signature, New Yorkiest item they offer is probably one that goes overlooked the most: Nathan’s Famous hot dogs. “We have Sabrett, and we have Nathan’s — doesn’t get more New York than that. The first street dog I had in New York was a Sabrett’s, and it was phenomenal,” said Matt Gibson, the executive chef at Legends, the hospitality company that runs the Stadium’s food and is owned by the Yankees and the Dallas Cowboys."

Now the real question is, which one do you like? If you have a preference, message us on the FREE 104.5 The Team ESPN Radio APP. It's FREE and you can listen to The Drive with Charlie & Dan from 3p to 7p wherever you are. That's as good as the Citi Field Premio Sausage & Peppers. That is my absolute favorite ballpark food. Enjoy!
