Tree Releases ‘Like Whoa’ in Partnership with Scion AV
When you think of the Chicago rap scene, you probably think of Chief Keef and drill music. But the Windy City’s rap community is way more musically diverse. Chi-Town’s own MC Tree is making noise with his latest single, 'Like Woah,' and no, it’s not drill music.
The song, not to be confused with Black Rob’s millennial hit 'Whoa,' is part of a movement/sound Tree calls "soul trap." It’s slow-grinding track with a mellow groove of synthesizers, computer beats and Tree's raspy vocals.
On the song, the Chi-City rhymer explains the meaning behind the slang term "Like Whoa," which is used to express a come up in life.
"You woke up this morning and said, 'Thank you' to Jesus / Like Whoa / You made you some money before it was evening / Like Whoa / And then you found out that somebody was hating / Like Woah / And it was all okay more money is waiting / Like Woah," he raps.
Tree has partnered with Scion AV to release his new project titled, 'Scion AV Presents: THE @MCTREEG EP.' The collection will be available for free downloading on Jan. 21. In addition, a video for 'Like Woah,' is being shot and will debut on video outlets before the end of January.
