I believe the Giants made a great move in signing Tyrod Taylor yesterday.  Taylor had a pretty solid year when he played with the Houston Texans last season.  According to ESPN's Adam Shefter, it will be a two year deal worth around $17 million.  There will also be a total of $8.5 million of guaranteed money.  I like the connection that Taylor has to Giants GM Joe Schoen.  Their chemistry will benefit the Giants.  Here is my quick take on this from the Times Union:

Quarterback Tyrod Taylor played for the Buffalo Bills when Giants GM Joe Schoen was an Assistant GM with Buffalo, so he knows the upside of Taylor. The Giants on Tuesday signed Taylor to a two year contract to backup Daniel Jones and it’s a great move by Big Blue. Jones has a tendency to get injured, and the Giants needed a quality backup. Taylor will also provide some competition in training camp and push Jones. I like Jones as the starter but this is definitely a big year for Daniel and now he knows a veteran quarterback who is looking to prove himself again, is sitting right behind him.

Michael Johnson Jr and I had a conversation on the Giants new signing earlier today.  We both believe it is a good decision and move by the Giants to have a veteran presence behind Daniel Jones.  Below is our full discussion on this.

Daniel Jones needs some good leadership and consistency around him, and I think he has that now.  Between Taylor, Schoen, and head coach Brian Daboll, Jones is in a good situation that will make him improve and prosper as the New York Giants starting quarterback.
