Three NFL head coaches were fired yesterday, as part of a day that became known across NFL circles as "Black Monday". While it was confirmed that New York Giants' general manager, Dave Gettleman, would not be returning, the team's head coach, Joe Judge, was safe for the time being.

One day later, however, and that is no longer the case. Joe Judge is no longer the head coach of the New York Giants.

The Giants Fire Head Coach Joe Judge

According to multiple reports, the Giants have parted ways with their head coach after two seasons. Judge finishes his tenure with a record of 10-23, including a 4-13 record in 2021. Judge became the first head coach in Giants' history to lose 13 games following the team's loss to Washington on Sunday.

Following the (possibly forced) resignation of Tom Coughlin in 2015, the Giants have already hired, and fired, three new coaches. Ben McAdoo led the Giants to an 11-5 record in 2016, but was fired a season later. Pat Shurmur never truly seemed to gain any steam with the team, and was fired after two seasons.

Judge was hired ahead of the 2020 season, and, to his credit, won two more games (six) than Shurmur did the year prior. The team made major acquisitions this past offseason, and was supposed to compete for a Wild Card spot this year.

That did not end up being the case, however, and a 1-7 end to the season proved to be too much for Judge to overcome.

The Giants Search for a New Head Coach, GM

Now, the Giants find themselves without a general manager and a head coach, and go into the 2022 offseason in desperate need of a makeover.

Lucky for them, there are a number of candidates for both positions, that seem worthy of the challenge.

Friend of 104.5 The Team, Paul Schwartz, outlined seven candidates for the job of Giants' general manager, including Buffalo Bills' assistant GM, Jon Schoen, and Titans' director of player personnel, Monti Ossenfort. All of the candidates that Schwartz outlined are attached to playoff teams, which may slow the process down.

Meanwhile, the coaching rumor mill is heating up, both with experienced coaches, and promising first-timers. Former Miami Dolphins' head coach, Brian Flores, is likely to be considered for a number of positions. Long-time head coach interviewees like Eric Bienemy and Brian Daboll are also likely to be in the mix.

No matter what, the Giants have work to do, and they're going to have to do it quickly.
