In January, we found out that a popular store in Stuyvesant plaza for over thirty years, Drummer's Kitchen, was moving from Stuyvesant Plaza to Crossgates mall after its lease wasn't renewed. Another store which also had a thirty-plus year tenure in Stuyvesant Plaza announced it is moving too.
After a thirty-five-year run in Stuyvesant Plaza, Different Drummer's Kitchen Co./The Cook's Resource closed and is moving into Crossgates Mall. The move had to happen because the new owners of Stuyvesant Plaza didn't renew their lease according to the Albany Business Review. But we now know what will replace the beloved store.
It is always good news when an empty store is being filled with new retailers. The Party City store that is empty inside of Mohawk Commons will soon have two new tenants.
So, what's going on with the Crossgates Best Buy? Anyone?
I haven't driven by Crossgates yet to check it out. I initially read a headline by the Times Union made it dramatically sound like Best Buy is closed for good. And look, who knows- with all the events of 2020 and economic circumstances- it very well may happen eventually (as much as I hate to say that about any store)...
