There was a ton of buzz when the first two Sonic Restaurants came to the Capital Region. Now we are getting a third. According to the Times Union, the third Sonic in the Capital Region will be built on the old Howard Johnson restaurant site at the Mt. Hope Commons. The building, which was a hotel and a restaurant, burned down in July of 2017. It is on Route 9W near Exit 23 of the New York State Thruway and the entrance to 787.

Not only will there be a new Sonic restaurant, there will also be a four-story thirteen point three million-dollar Four Points By Sheraton hotel near the site.

There will be a groundbreaking ceremony today (Wednesday, July 10th) with local officials. Sonic has two other locations in the Capital Region. There is one in Latham and the other is in Troy.

I love Sonic for their milkshakes. My favorite is the Banana Creme Pie milkshake and after 8pm they are all half price.
