Rosario Dawson Opens Up About Finding Cousin Dead in Her Home [VIDEO]
Rosario Dawson recently opened up about the death of her cousin who she found dead inside her Venice, Calif., home on May 11. Although the actress is still grieving over the loss, she flew from Los Angeles to New York to appear on AOL's Build Series in New York on Wednesday (May 24).
During the interview, the 38-year-old entertainer fought back tears as she explained how humbled she was to be a working actress in Hollywood and still continued to be honored for her achievements in the field. Dawson vowed to make sure not to take her life for granted and make the most out of it.
"I've been dealing with a lot of loss lately and reconnecting with my family and my friends in a different way. I'm realizing how much I've pulled myself back, and I've been just really humbled by this opportunity tonight," said Dawson, while promoting the launch of the Lower East Side Girls Club and receiving an honorary award.
"My cousin just died, Vaneza, and I’m coming up on the six-year anniversary of my grandmother’s passing," she later added. "And from 75 to 26, you just don’t know when your time is. I just don’t want to be in any kind of position where I'm looking back going, 'Ah, I should’ve, could’ve, would've, didn't, damn!'"
As we previously reported, Dawson found her 26-year-old relative, Vanez Ines Vasquez, inside her home unresponsive. According to TMZ, when paramedics arrived they immediately administered life-saving procedures but couldn't resuscitate her. Vasquez, who had reportedly been suffering from migraines and high blood pressure, most likely died from natural causes.
