It’s widely known that Prince was a strict vegan who didn’t allow any type of animal products to be eaten or cooked at his Paisley Park compound. In honor of the Purple One’s 58th birthday on June 7, PETA released “Animal Kingdom,” a song he wrote for the animal-rights organization’s 20th anniversary.

It’s an ethereal, electric guitar-driven ballad with Prince singing for the animals and pledging his commitment to not “eat anything with parents.” It's a funky song that will have tapping your feet and singing along to the lyrics - whether you are a vegan or if love to dine on the swine.

"No member of the animal kingdom nurses past maturity / No member of the animal kingdom ever did a thing 2 me / It’s why I don’t eat red meat or white fish / Don’t give me no blue cheese / We’re all members of the animal kingdom / Leave your brothers and sisters in the sea," he sings on the chorus along with dolphin sounds.

It's great to know that not only was Prince concern about the human race, he also cared about the animal kingdom as well. Although he didn't celebrate his birthday (due to his Jehovah’s Witnesses beliefs), we can honor his born-day with this funky ditty. And who knows, the song might even encourage you to stop eating meat.
