Each election season you can usually count on at least one hip-hop artist using their verses to proclaim their political beliefs (many will recall Young Jeezy's "My President Is Black" prior to the 2008 election). In 2012, Nicki Minaj has taken that role in a freestyle verse on Lil Wayne's Dedication 4 mixtape, stating that she is a Republican and is voting for Mitt Romney.

There you have it. Nicki Minaj stating her political views via freestyle verse.

I've never liked it when artists have used songs to talk about politics. You are guaranteed to have one side of the political spectrum and, therefore, a large portion of your fans upset about it which could hurt you from a business perspective. Not that Nicki needs all of her fans, given that she is too big to fail as a part of YMCMB, but alienating people (which she does with her dig at lazy people ruining the economy) isn't a pleasant proposition either way.

Many are curious as to whether or not this endorsement will have any sort of impact on the election, which we will wait until November to find out.
