Miguel may be next to lay claim to the "wave" as he released a remix for his song "Waves" featuring Travi$ Scott.

The song takes on a slower and edgier tone than the original that was released on his 2015 effort, Wildheart. “Don’t stop, I wanna ride that wave / All night I wanna ride that wave,” Miguel sings.

Scott matches Miguel's sultry voice as he rhymes about stealing a girl from her man and gives a shoutout to famed surfer, Kelly Slater.

"But be your man, I can be that later / Right now I might pull up on ya' on my surfboard like I'm Kelly Slater / Lavish shit that I might forget / I got e-mails, texts, I ain't read those yet / Replying to all those needs you said / Like moving on, I might feel that way yeah," rhymes La Flame over the Cash Dillon-produced beat.

This isn't the only new thing we've seen from the California native since the new year started; Miguel is also featured on Mac Miller's "Weekend" -- the video dropped last week.

Miguel snagged two Grammy nominations for next month's award show. He's up for Best Urban Contemporary Album and Best R&B Song. He's also set to bring his Wildheart Motel to L.A. on Jan. 29 and 30.

Check out the song below and whatever you do, don't tell Kanye West or Wiz Khalifa that a new "Mr. Wave" contender may be in town.
