In the words of LL Cool J, you can call it a comeback! The department store, Lord & Taylor, will be return to Crossgates Mall for the first time since 2005.

The new two-story retailer will be fill the void left by Macy’s when they moved to the west end of the mall. The store is looking to capitalize on the Capital Region’s wealth of new industries including GlobalFoundries and the College of Nanoscale Science and Engineering. The store itself will also provide many new jobs to Capital Region residents seeking employment.

The company’s executive vice president released a statement, via the Times Union, “Lord & Taylor is thrilled to be expanding into the Capital Region with its fourth full line store in Upstate New York. We believe Lord & Taylor’s assortment of approachable fashion is perfect for the Albany market. We have high expectations for the store and are looking forward to serving the community.”

The luxury retailer will carry familiar brands like Marc Jacobs, Kate Spade, Juicy Couture, Coach and Michael Kors. The store will be ready to service shoppers sometime in fall of 2014.
