It seems like everyone is excited about the solar eclipse that will be visible throughout the Capital region this afternoon. A lot of people are concerned about how they can look at the sun without damaging their eyes.

It depends on how long you take a look at the sun. I'm not a medical professional and most of us weren't around 99 years ago when the last solar eclipse took place. Smartphone experts are saying that you can actually view the eclipse with glasses through your smartphone.

Most GoPro and smartphone shots will be wide angle, showing the scene, and the light changes, where the sun itself will comprise just a fraction of the image.

You could point your iPhone at the sun right now to take photos and the camera’s sensor and the lens would not be damaged. and the same is the case for the solar eclipse, according to Apple.

Grab your iPhone and enjoy the festivities and be careful while driving.
