It is kind of like Jurassic Park, just without the living dinosaurs.

And no DNA cloning or fossilized mosquitos will be necessary to make this drive-thru event a reality. Next month the Dinosaur Adventure Drive-Thru will be making a two-weekend stop at the Altamont Fairgrounds. Thursday, July 22nd through Sunday, July 25th, and again Wednesday, July 28th through Sunday, August 1st the Fairgrounds will take a leap back to the Jurassic Period with your chance to bring the kids to see some life-sized dinosaurs.

The Dinosaur Adventure Drive-Thru is exactly what the title says it is: it is a 30 to 45-minute drive-thru experience that their website describes as "...a Prehistoric journey featuring life-sized dinosaurs. See the ferocious T-Rex, a colossal Brachiosaurus, Triceratops, Velociraptor, and more – all from the comfort and safety of your vehicle!" Based on the stream of photos at the Dinosaur Adventure website, these dinosaurs are VERY life-like in size and detail. And unlike an animal safari, you can roll down your windows on this excursion.

If your kids are crazy about dinosaurs, this is not the only dinosaur exhibit that is making its way to New York. We also got word back in May that a new dinosaur theme park is in the works down in Wallkill. This would be a permanent attraction with animatronic dinosaurs, but would also feature a tour-type set up with a train ride that runs through the park. Plans for this park are still going through the approval process.

Vehicle passes for the Dinosaur Drive-Thru Experience are on sale now on their website.
