After Pressing Pause Schenectady’s Arcade Bar Will Press Play Soon!
Schenectady's new restaurant concept called an arcade bar was supposed to open its doors last fall but there were some setbacks. But soon you will be able to get your hands on those joysticks and play those old arcade games that you loved as a kid.
Who Came Up With The Concept For Schenectady?
Chelsea Heilmann who owns a cafe in Schenectady called Take Two Cafe wanted to add to the nightlife in a different way. She saw the concept when she lived in Colorado and thought it would do well in Schenectady. They are called arcade bars.
These are bars that have old-school arcade games. Yes, the ones that you insert quarters and play. Games like PacMan, pinball machines, and other retro free-standing games.
What Games Will UnBEETABLE Have to Play?
There will be a wide range of games that will cost twenty-five cents to one dollar. You will be able to play classic video games like Area 51, Cruisin USA, and various pinball machines.
Some of the games are the owner's collection, a few were rented from a pinball arcade operator in Saratoga Springs and they also bought about ten thousand dollars of other arcade games according to the Albany Business Review.
The Owner Also Wanted to Open a Vegan Restaurant
Chelsea wanted to open a vegan restaurant and bar that featured an arcade inside. She's calling it "UnBEETABLE". There are twenty-eight seats at the bar and forty-five for dining. After a few setbacks, it looks as if this cool concept will finally open during the last two weeks of May or early June at the latest.
