People are always split on the decision to play starters in preseason games, but if you are anxious to see Josh Allen play, he will be playing this Saturday.

Buffalo Bills head coach Sean McDermott held a press conference this morning and made the announcement that Josh Allen will see playing time in this weekend's preseason game against the Pittsburgh Steelers.  It looks as though he will play about a quarter and a half.

People are torn on the decision to play Allen

It happens every year around this time.  People go back and forth about whether or not starters (especially high-profile, franchise players) should play in a preseason game.  The games don't matter when it comes to end-of-the-season standings, so many people think you should give the players that need the work the time on the field.  Who cares if you win or lose? They're the ones that coaches have the most questions about anyway.  Why not get them answered in the preseason?  And even if you don't end up keeping those players, it gives other teams a look at them.  It gives the players a chance to highlight their skills.

The other concern is always the risk of injury.  Staying healthy is easily one of the #1 goals through the preseason.

So why is McDermott playing Allen?

If there is that much risk in playing your franchise players, then why do it?  His response to that is, "Simply put, it's to get them ready for the season."

Just like the other players on that team, the star guys need to get into game mode too.  You need to play against a clock in real-time.  You need to see other defenses and how they respond to the plays you're running.

What do you think?  Should players like Josh Allen see play time in preseason games?
