Texting while driving is so 2009. Thanks to the proliferation of smartphones, Web surfing is the new dangerous activity the young folks are engaging in while operating a motor vehicle.

According to a new survey from State Farm of 1,000 adult motorists, 21 percent admit to having accessed the Internet from their phone while they were driving. That percentage jumps to 48 when just the 18-to-29-year-old demographic is included.

Among 18-to-29-year-olds, 30 percent cop to having updated their social media status while driving, 36 percent read social media networks, and 43 percent have checked their email.
