The cats out of the bag. A new Dr. Dre album is on the way.

It won't be his long-awaited Detox LP, which has been more than 10 years in the making, but it will be Dre's first studio album since he dropped 2001 in 1999.

In a radio interview this week, Ice Cube revealed that Dre will be releasing a new album to coincide with the release of the N.W.A biopic, Straight Outta Compton.

"Dre is dropping an inspired album by [Straight Outta Compton]. He dropping something on Aug. 1. It's mega, you know it's Dr. Dre," said Ice Cube in an interview with Philadelphia's The Rise & Grind Morning Show. "It's definitely a dope record and he's dropping it all on the same day."

In March 2015, the man behind The Chronic said that he was working on the film's soundtrack but nothing of this caliber was expected.

"I'm working on something right now. I don't want to put it out there just yet and say that I'm definitely gonna put it out. But I'm really feeling what I'm working on right now," said Dr. Dre in an interview with an L.A. radio show, BigBoyTV. "This would be a record that's inspired by the movie."

Dre also revealed that the album will feature some of the best in the game like Kendrick Lamar and Eminem. There's also an N.W.A reunion planned, but little details are known on that just yet.

According to Rolling Stone, Dre will formally announce the Straight Outta Compton-inspired album on Saturday (Aug. 1) during his Beats 1 radio show, The Pharmacy. Despite Cube revealing the release date, the album will actually come out later than expected though an exact date hasn't been announced.
