Don’t Let That Food Go Bad: National Grid Distributing Dry Ice
As it will take some time for National Grid to restore power to over 100,000 people, they are helping to keep you from losing that fridge full of food.
According to a News 10 report, National Grid over the next few days will be giving out dry ice and bottle water to customers who need it. Pick-up of these items will be available today until 6pm, Friday 10 a.m. to 6 p.m and Saturday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The pick-up locations include the Crossgates Mall, the Schenectady County Public Works Department on Kellar Avenue and at the Pittstown Rescue Squad on Parker School Road in Johnsonville.
I went out to grab ice for our coolers this morning and several area stores were out because everyone had the same idea. Plus, ice melts quickly. If you grab some of this dry ice it should have no problem keeping your perishables cold until your power finally comes back on. I have had ice cream shipped to me using dry ice to keep it frozen. So, this stuff should have no issue saving your food for a couple days.
That or just have one huge meal tonight. Overeating while watching Thursday Night Football on your phone is always an option.
