The nominees for the 2016 Billboard Music Awards were announced on Good Morning America yesterday (April 11), but the announcements took something of a backseat to a not-so-subtle reminder that even awards can make for awkward moments.

BBMA co-hosts Ludacris and Ciara made the announcements, but as they were revealing the finalists for Top Rap Artist of the year, Ciara had an impromptu bout of amnesia. The singer announced Drake and Fetty Wap; but when it came time to announce Future (her ex-fiance, in case you've been under a rock), Ci-Ci would not speak his name. She just paused. Co-host Ludacris simply announced “Future," instead.

Ciara and Future were engaged back in 2014 before she called off the engagement shortly after the birth of their son due to infidelity. The past two years have been filled with acrimony between the two, even with Ciara's current engagement to Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson.

As far as the awards themselves, chart-topping artists The Weeknd, Drake, Fetty Wap and Adele are among the finalists for the 2016 Billboard Music Awards.

The Weeknd leads with nods in 16 categories including Top Artist, Top R&B artist and Top R&B Album for Beauty Behind the Madness; while Drake received 10 mentions, including Top Artist and Top Rap Artist.

Fetty Wap grabbed 10 nominations as well including Top New Artist and Top Rap Artist. Pop singer Adele follows with eight nods, including Top Billboard 200 Artist and Top Artist.
