New information regarding the alleged double murder case against YNW Melly has surfaced, and it appears to further substantiate the Miramar Police Department's assertion that the rapper killed two of his friends and that fellow YNW rap crew member YNW Bortlen was an accomplice in the subsequent cover-up.

According to documents filed in Florida's Broward County on Feb. 14 and released on the internet this week (Feb. 25), evidence from the scene of the alleged drive-by shooting that resulted in the death of YNW Melly's two friends, fellow rappers YNW Sakchaser and YNW Juvy, points toward the the two men being shot from within the Jeep Compass instead of from outside of it on Oct. 26, 2018. When YNW Bortlen initially drove the victims to the hospital on the night of the shooting, he claimed shots were fired from outside of the Jeep during a drive-by shooting.

Authorities say that a single ".40 caliber shell casing was found inside of the vehicle on the floorboard of the left rear passenger side," which was where 19-year-old Melly was apparently sitting at the time of the shooting. They say that single shell casing, which was found inside of a white bag on the car's floorboard "contradicts statements made by [Bortlen] stating this incident was a drive-by shooting." YNW Sakchaser was the right front passenger and YNW Juvy was the right rear passenger.

The docs include investigators' claims that Melly and Bortlen fired shots from outside of the vehicle to make the shooting appear as a drive-by. In another part of the affidavit, which was written by Miramar Detective Mark Moretti, it's said that Melly and Bortlen drove around with the bodies in the car for a period of time so they could concoct a story about the shooting before they arrived at the hospital.

Florida authorities also shared a Snapchat conversation Melly and his girlfriend had two weeks after the murders occurred. One of the messages from Melly read, "Dis nigga saved my life he coming everywhere wit me cuz of dem crackers come grab him it's my fault u forgot?” Melly wrote, referring to Bortlen. “I keep Bortlen wit me kuz at da end of the day he did one of a realist shit in my life."

As previously reported, investigators believe Melly is the triggerman and Bortlen is an accomplice for the cover-up in this alleged double murder. Melly and Bortlen are currently in the Broward County Jail. Both rappers are being held without bail.

Melly was officially arrested for the murders of YNW Sakchaser and YNW Juvy on Feb. 13. He was charged with two counts of first-degree murder that same day. Melly's alleged accomplice, Bortlen, was charged with two counts of first-degree murder along with two counts of accessory after the fact.

Since his arrest, the Florida rapper, who publicly mourned the deaths of his two friends after the shooting in October of 2018, has experienced an increase in streams of his hit song, "Murder on My Mind," across multiple platforms including Spotify and Apple Music. The track currently sits at No. 14 on the Billboard Hot 100. His Kanye West-assisted song, "Mixed Personalities," sits at the No. 60 spot on the same chart.
