$126 Million Big Ones! NY Lottery Grand Prize Ticket Sold in Schenectady County

Whoah - we've had some big lottery payouts here in Upstate New York in the last few years, but this one appears to be one of the most masssive grand prize payouts in the history of the Capital Region.

The New York State Lottery confirmed that there was a grand prize Mega Million ticket sold for last night's drawing, and it was purchased in Schenectady County.

Amazing, considering that Meg Millions is played throughout 45 states as well as the District of Columbia and the US Virgin Islands, the odds against one single ticket winner is purely astronomical.

On their website, the New York Lottery reported that a "second Mega Millions jackpot won in 2022 goes to a lucky ticket-holder in New York! A single ticket matched all six numbers in the March 8 drawing – the white balls 7, 18, 38, 58, and 64, plus the gold Mega Ball 24 – to win the estimated prize of $126 million."

The jackpot-winning ticket was sold at 1 Broadway Center in Schenectady, N.Y. – which is the location of the New York Lottery headquarters.

It's incredible to think that someone right here in the Capital Region is sitting on a jackpot of over 100 million dollars and they may not even know it.

It may be a while before we find out who won this, as winners have up to one year to claim their prize before it's forfeited.

Back in September of 2022, there was also a $94M dollar Powerball jackpot winner from Saratoga County. 

Back in 2011, 7 co-workers in Albany shared a Megamillions jackpot that had a grand prize of 319 million dollars.  This would without a doubt be the second-largest jackpot win in the history of the Capital Region.
