Rick Ross Indicted for Allegedly Pistol-Whipping Groundskeeper
In June 2015, Rick Ross and his bodyguard were arrested for kidnapping, aggravated assault and aggravated battery charges in Fayette County, Georgia after Rozay allegedly pistol-whipped Jonathan Zamudio, a groundskeeper who was doing work on his home. Rozay was hit with kidnapping, aggravated battery, aggravated assault and possession of a firearm while committing a crime charges by a grand jury last week and was indicted today (March 1).
But according to TMZ, Ross' lawyer, Steve Sadow, claims that the rapper was acting in self-defense and that his client "should be immune from criminal prosecution because the groundskeeper was committing felonies on Ross' property." Rozay has said in the past that the plaintiff was partying with cocaine and drug paraphernalia in the estate's guest house. Because of this, the rapper's lawyer claims that his client would be within rights to use physical force and will make the case that he was "acting in self-defense and in defense of his property when he encountered trespassers."
In Sept. 2015, Ross filed a lawsuit against Zamudio claiming that the groundskeeper was lying about the incident and cited a 911 call three hours after the alleged pistol-whipping where Zamudio did not mention being assaulted or any injuries. The legal documents from the lawsuit, which were obtained by XXL, say that Zamudio was trespassing on Ross' property without permission and that the pistol-whipping claims are an attempt to extort money from the rapper. On. Sept 8, 2015, 50 Cent posted a photo of he and Zamudio on his Instagram and in the court papers, Rozay and his lawyers claim that Fif instigated the groundskeeper's attempts to extort the MMG boss.
The intitial reports stated that Ross and Zamudio got into a heated argument on the property of the Fayette County, GA mansion. The "I'm a Boss" MC then allegedly forced the man into the guesthouse bedroom at gunpoint and pistol-whipped him so hard that he hurt his jaw and neck and chipped two teeth.
