Jay Z shines a spotlight on one of his favorite fashion designers on his new album, Magna Carta Holy Grail. The song, Tom Ford, references the designer / film director who helped turn around Gucci fashion house before launching his own line in 2004.

Of course, Tom gave the track his personal seal of approval. “Who would not be flattered to have an entire Jay Z track named after them? I mean, come on, it’s pretty rare that something like that happens.”

On the hook, Jigga says, “I don’t pop molly / I rock Tom Ford / International bring back the Concorde / Numbers don’t lie, check the scoreboard / Tom Ford, Tom Ford, Tom Ford.” The line suggests that Jay gets “high” off the designer’s clothing.

The connection isn’t out of left field. Ford says he’s been dressing Hov for years, and says Jay “looks great in my clothes.”

Justin Timberlake seems to be a fan of the designer as well. The line, “Tom Ford tuxedos for no reason” can be heard in his song Suit & Tie (featuring Jay Z).
