Upstate Forest Rangers Rescue 2 Different Hikers With Leg Injuries!

It was a busy couple of days into the month of September for Forest Rangers in Greene County. One Forest Ranger responded to both injured hiker calls within two days and in almost the same location, the Town of Hunter wilderness.

Where Were The Hikers Injured?

On September 3rd at around 4:40 pm, Greene County Forest Ranger Katherine Fox responded to Mary's Glen trail for a hiker with a lower leg injury. The very next day on September 4th at 11 am, she was called to respond to another hiker with a leg injury this time at Kaaterskill Falls, This hiker reportedly had fallen from the top and hurt her ankle.

Who Was Rescued?

The hiker on Mary's Glen trail had an unstable lower leg injury and Forest Rangers helped a thirty-two-year-old hiker from Washington D.C. The Rangers worked quickly to splint the hiker's leg, give her crutches, and ultimately carried her to an ambulance standing by.

The twenty-two-year-old hiker from New Jersey had an ankle injury he suffered from falling from the top of Kaaterskill Falls. Forest Rangers assisted in moving him away from the edge. He was only twelve feet away. Rangers, police, and fire personnel carried him to the trail and administered first aid. They ultimately had to transport him to the ambulance via a UTV.
